Rock Raven is a live fire cooking service based in Fredericksburg, Texas, in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. We are Texas born with a Tejano spirit — a private chef and open-fire catering experience built around real hardwood, cast iron, and patience. We cook our food the way it was meant to be prepared: over a real hardwood fire of Texas post oak and mesquite, in the open air, in front of the people we are feeding. No gas, no electricity, no timers doing the thinking — every meal is cooked by hand, by eye, and by feel, reading the wood and the wind.
Every event is designed for you: the rig, the wood, and the menu. From private events and wedding parties to quiet backyard dinners and estate gatherings, we bring the flame to you. Ranch, backyard, vineyard, or private venue — we roll the mobile grill rig in, build the fire where you stand, and stay until the last ember burns out. We cook for gatherings of 4 to 150 guests across Fredericksburg and the greater Texas Hill Country, and travel beyond for the right table.
Our menus favor the flame: prime cuts and seasoned hardwood, hanging asado-style roasts, cast iron skillets of fire-roasted corn and peppers, coal-charred carrots, ember-roasted Hill Country peaches, and long communal tables set under the oaks with tallow candles. The plate was never the point — the people around it are. Flavor starts with fire, and fire brings people together.
Favorite cooks include slow-roasted picanha served with chimichurri, bone-in ribeye tomahawk finished in rosemary garlic butter, outside skirt steak, Iberico pork secreto, fire-roasted carrots, green beans, polenta, roasted corn, seasonal fire peaches, seasonal fire cobbler, and grilled pineapple.
Now booking private events, estate gatherings, and wedding parties — season by season, a limited number of fires each month. Before We Book
Clear expectations protect your date, our rig, and the people gathering around the fire.
A 50% deposit is required to reserve and confirm your event. Your date is not held until the deposit has been received.
Cancellations made within 14 days of the scheduled event will forfeit the deposit.
If severe weather or circumstances beyond reasonable control make service unsafe or impossible, we will reschedule with you, subject to availability.
Specific event terms are confirmed in writing before service.
